Song 1: Not Afraid

Why: I choose this song, in the lyric it says: I’m not afraid. In chapter 28, Jerry continues to stop selling the chocolate, he is not afraid to not sell the chocolate, he don’t is not afraid that achieve will be shouting at him.

Song 2: Bad Day

Why: I choose this song because, in chapter 1, Jerry can’t join the football team because he is not strong enough. The lyric says: Cause you had a bad day You’re taking one down You sing a sad song just to turn it around. He feels really sad because he didn’t join it.

Song 3: Stronger

Why: I choose this song because, in chapter 28, Jerry keep never give up, and build a stronger team who refuse to buy the chocolate. The lyric says What doesn’t kill you makes you
stronger Stand a little taller.

Song 4: The Man Who Can’t Be Moved

Why: I choose this song because in 28, Jerry never sell the chocolate, and he has a strong heart that he is not going to sell the chocolates. The lyric says: So I’m not moving I’m not moving.

Song 5: Titanium

Why: I choose this song because in 25. Jerry assignment has ended, so he should be sell chocolate, but he decide to still stop selling chocolates. In the lyric, it says: You shoot me down, but I won’t fall. It is referring to how Jerry never gives up, he will never sell that chocolate,

Song 6: Chandelier

Why: I choose this song because in chapter 26. Jerry wants to be himself, he doesn’t want to sell chocolate. The lyric: I’m gonna live like tomorrow doesn’t exist is referring to Jerry.

Song 7: Everybody wants to rule the world

Why: I choose this song because, in chapter 16, Brother Leona and Archie are like forcing people to do the assignment. The lyric says: Help me to decide Help me make the most.

Song 8: The Man

Why: I choose this song because, in chapter 36, the lyric says: Stand up now and face the sun Won’t hide my tail or turn and run. Jerry is not afraid to fight with Emile, he doesn’t want to run. He is very Brave.

Song 9: Brave

Why: I choose this song because, in chapter 26, the lyric says: I wanna see you be brave. It is referring to Jerry persuading other people not to sell chocolate, he wants to sell people to be brave like him.

Song 10: Never Say Never

Why: I choose this song because, in chapter 1, the lyric says: I will never say never. It is referring to Jerry that he will never give up on football. He will keep trying until he is in the football team.

Song 11: Fight Song

Why: I choose this song because, in chapter 36, the lyric says: My power’s turned on Starting right now I’ll be strong. It is referring to Jerry ready to fight with Emile. He is not afraid of Emile, he will come out strong

Song 12: Chocolate Rain

Why: I choose this song because, in chapter 5, the lyric says: Chocolate Rain. It is referring to Brother Leona forcing students to sell 50 chocolate box.

Song and Chocolate War Relationship TIEA:

There many songs that are related the to the Chocolate War. The song that I have chose is Not Afraid, by Eminem. In the lyric, it says: I’m not afraid. In chapter 28, Jerry continues to stop selling the chocolate, he is not afraid to not sell the chocolate, he is not afraid that Archie will be shouting at him. Even though Archie give him an assignment of buying chocolate.During the fight this was also referring to Jerry and Emile. Jerry was not afraid to fight with Emile, he doesn’t want to hide, he wants to fight with him. Jerry is very brave to fight the whole school. That is why the song Not Afraid, by Eminem is related to the Chocolate War. The second evidence is a song called: The Man Who Can’t Be Moved. I choose this song because in chapter 28, Jerry never sells the chocolate, and he has a strong heart that he is not going to sell the chocolates. Jerry decides to reject those people who bully him. He makes his mind and continues to be a nonconformist. The lyric says: So I’m not moving I’m not moving. Also at the start off the book, he said that he will never give up on football which is also referring the lyrics about he will never stop, he will keep going on.

Chocolate War TIEA

The book is about being a nonconformist. They are many pieces of evidences in the Chocolate War. The author foreshadows the theme. When Jerry is opening his locker, he saw a poster that says: Do I Dare Disturb The Universe. This is talking about Jerry will be a nonconformist. As time went on and people started turning against him, the book started to show that nonconformism was a bad thing. All the way up until the last two chapters, Jerry’s dedication on not conforming never stop. He was punished for this, though by getting severely beaten up by Emile and getting humiliated in front of the whole school. At the end, when Jerry realized that the only way he would ever be safe from the nasty characters that were Archie and Brother Leon was to conform to their wishes. The reader was left with the impression that they should not conform either. This ruthlessly honest quote from the book accurately portrays this realization that Jerry had because he was trying to save his friend, Goober, from getting hurt by giving him advice. That is why this book is about being a nonconformist.
