15 Minutes of Fame

Inspiring Poem

Anger is a devil,

Anger destroys people,

Anger doesn’t fix anything,

Anger makes things worse.

Forgiveness is an angle,

Forgiveness brings peace,

Forgiveness creates happiness,

Forgiveness solves anger.

Anger loses friendship,

Forgiveness keeps friendship,

Friends are like cats,

both beautiful and wise.

Friends support you,

Friends guide you,

Don’t lose your friends,

Losing friends are like nightmare.

Dream Poem

My dream feels like the warmth of a spacesuit and the coldness in space.

My dream tastes like unique food created by future technology.

My dream looks like the space vast, wide, with endless possibilities of galaxy.

My dream smells like the stars in space, that just died.

My dream sounds like the explosion of big bang.

My dream is to become an astronaut to explore the universe.

Analyzing Inspiring and Empowering Poems

These three poems are all inspirational. The genre of the first poem I choice is a free verse. The poem is called The Road to Success, by Byron Pulsifer. This poem is telling us how to find the right way to success. For example, at the second stanza in the poem. It said: “I will go out to find Intelligent people of like mind.” The author is saying that you need to find people who already is successful. By finding intelligent and successful people, the author can learn from them. At the fourth stanza, it said ”Seeking out the best in others”, so the author can have a model to follow and also be successful. At the fifth stanza, it said “ To make a part of the world. A better place you see.”The author then can teach the people who want to be successful, and form a loop. It is very inspirational. The author believes if we all work together to find the road to success, the whole world will be a better place. Like the last line, “This is success for all to preach.” The author encourages everyone to seek and reach the success.

The second poem I choice is called Don’t Quit, by an unknown author. The genre of this poem is a slam poem. This poem is very inspirational. It tells us now matter how hard, never give up. For example, at the sixth line, it said : “Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.” This means that, we knew you tried really hard. Even though you still failed, slowed down the pace, and figured out what is wrong. Take a rest and figure things out and keep going. The most important thing is to never give up. You can’t be successful if you quit at the beginning. The author keeps encouraging people don’t quit, no matter how hard. It said at the fourth stanza, “Success is failure turned inside out “. Sometimes when you are in the worst mood maybe it is another chance. If you face and overcome failure then it will turn to success. But if you quit in the middle, you will never reach success.Like the last two lines said: “So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit -It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.” Everyone should have confidence and patience. Now matter how hard, how tired, never give up. You will reach the end and get the success.

The third poem I choice is called A Poem of Hope, it is an epic poem. It is also very inspirational. It tells us when you are getting down, how to move up. For example, at the first stanza, “Look deep down inside yourself, And you’ll find the way to cope.” The first answer is ourself. When we failed or depressed, if we look deep down inside ourselves, we can find the way to handle and fight back. Another way is to change what you think, like the fourth stanza said, “ Change the way you think of life, And life will be better, you know.” This mean that when you’re stuck on something. You should change the way of thinking the thing that you’re stuck. Maybe things will change, when you change perspectives. Things might even get better, you never know. In the last sentence, the poem wrote: “Don’t allow yourself to frown, God will help you see the blessing of the day.” This means, don’t be sad when you messed up what your doing. Miracles can happen, you never know what will happen next. God might bless you that day.

Analyzing My Own Poems

I. identify and explain the content, context, language, structure, technique and style of text(s) and the relationships among texts.

In the first poem, the author use free verse to write he poem, and he also uses easy words to persuade the readers to understand his thoughts about how to be successful. In the second poem, it’s a slam type of poem. The author uses strong words to inspire the read. And the last poem, it’s an epic type of writing skill. The author is trying to persuade readers that when your stuck on something, you should change your perspectives. Things might become better.

IV. interpret similarities and differences in features within and between genres and texts.
One of the similarity in those three poems is that those poems all inspire people to do something. The second and third poems are inspiring people to don’t give up on things, just change the perspectives or even take a rest. The first poem is inspiring about how to be successful.
