An Incredible Race
I like running and I run very fast. I was in a running team before, but I was a short distance runner. I usually run 100M. I joined KAS running club last year which is a long distance running club. Every week our club run around Lotus lake or street which is about 4 km. I found out I can run a very long distance and I run faster than other members. When the club announced there was a cross country race in AST, I thought I can try. It was the first time I was going to a long distance race.
When I was on the HSR to AST, I was very scared, because it was the first time that I went to a long distance race. We got there late. And I was shocked because AST was on a mountain. I never run on mountain. But there was only few TES students who went to the race, no TAS students. I felt a little relax. Then suddenly there was a large group of people came from the bus. It was the TAS students, it was about 60 kids. I was very nervous, I thought I would lose. And I was the only boy from KAS. After a few minutes, AST teacher show us the route of the race. It was 2.1 Km. I had been practicing a lot at school, so it did not feel that far. The middle school girls started first. Then it was the middle school boy’s turn.
Everybody lined up. My legs were shaking very badly. I was freaking out. I heard the gunshot. Everybody started running really fast. So I started to run really fast too. I started out really good. I was at 13th place. Then after a while I was half way through. I was still at 13th place. At the end I sprinted as fast as I can and got the 11th place. I was sad that I got 11th place. I thought at least I can get 3rd place. Suddenly I heard my name from the announcer. I found out that I got 2nd place. Because all of the boys in front of me were 7 and 8 graders, only one was 6 grader. I got a pretty medal for KAS. It was an epic end.
Three weeks ago, I went to AST race again. It was a lot difference than last year. I was not nervous and I felt very confidence this time because I had experience. I know what would happen later. Then the teachers did the same thing as last year. Everybody lined up on the line again. I started run really fast and I started off 4th place and then at the end I got 3rd place. But I was a 7th grader. The two students in front of me were 8th graders, so I got 1st place. I was really happy.
