Endangered species:Philippine eagle
why has the Philippin eagle becoming endangered?
Why has the Philippine eagle become so endangered?
Philippine eagle is considered to be the strongest and the most threatening animal in the forest, but why has the Philippine eagle becoming so endangered? Apparently there are some main issues that keep causing the Philippine eagle becoming lesser and lesser, which is reproduction problem, habitat destruction and environmental issue.
A philippine eagle can lives up to over 40 years in captivity ,they can live up longer in the wild, it takes 5-7 years to sexually mature, once a couple are paired, they will remain together for rest of their life, but if one dies, another one will search for another eagle for replacing the dead one.
A female philippine eagle lays only one egg every two years, which can’t increase the population.
Philippine eagles inhabit forests and montane forests, montane forest is a mountain that covered by plants, such as bushes, trees, ferns etc.
But obviously, these two kind of habitats are really hard to survive for animals in present day, because people deforested many forests for agriculture purpose, etc. Philippine eagle are forced to move or to adapt this situation.
The way that philippine eagle is becoming endangered also due to pollutants and expanding agriculture which caused by humans, factories and cars released too much Co2, but not enough trees can absorb it, so the particles go into animals bodies by breathing, it’s bad for their health and they can no longer live up as long as before when there was no air pollution, agriculture expansion is another problem, humans deforested too many places for agriculture purpose, the land becomes used for growing crops. Humans also have been using too much pesticide on their crops, it harms the herbivores also affects the predators, Philippine eagles a lot.
The way that the second largest eagle in the world are becoming endangered is due to habitat destruction, which is caused by human, environmental issues, and reproduction problem, since the philippine eagle foundation started saving this endangered species, the number of philippine eagle has started balancing a little bit, the only way to make it start increase is to make sure all philippine eagle’s health and reproduce successfully, so we need to protect and restore the forest for making a suitable environment for the philippine eagles.

Unit 3 Reflection
Subject: Individuals and Societies
Start Date: January 2017
End Date: April 2017 Statement of Inquiry: Time, place and space influences the culture and governance of societies.
Criteria Assessed: A and
Key Concept: Time, place and space
Intro(overview)
In unit 3, we learned about middle ages from chapter 1 to chapter 5,medieval towns, religions, how was their education like, what did they learn, where did they learn.etc , and the development of feudalism.etc
Chapters overviews:
For the first chapter,we learned,we learned the fall of roman empire, it was because political, economic and foreign invasion.then we learned legacy Roman art, philosophy, architecture and language. In chapter 2, we feudal system, which is a political that is prevailing in Medieval Europe,it is based on the holding of lands in fee and on the result relations between lord and vassal.
there were 5 classes, king, lord, nobles, knights and peasants(from the most powerful class to the least.
In chapter 3, the topic was mostly about religion and church. we learned about the roman catholic church, its organization, architecture and education. roman catholic church was in a cross shape, because it represents jesus. For the religion part, we learned about sacraments and salvation, monks, nuns and friars, and pilgrimages and crusades. it was about monk’s’ life, what did they do, what sacrament they promised to become a monk, they spent their lives in prayer, helping poor, study.etc. in section 3 which is about pilgrimages and crusades, we learned what was a crusade different than a pilgrimages.
- crusade:medieval military expedition.
- a journey to a place associated with someone
Activities:
in unit three, we have done 10 activities in total, which is coat of arm(game pieces for showing what level we are),trebuchets, stained glass window, magna carta(and raking poster) group performance about medieval towns, trading,(there were different distances between each group to the Constantinople) ,3d castle, and create a game board, the game board includes the informations about unit 3.
In this unit, my favorite part of the unit was creating my own coat of arm playing piece, i had a lot of fun through it.
Improvement:
After this unit, i think i’m better better on communicating and better on using terminology. MVP level becomes more familiar to me, i finally start to read it before the summative is coming up, i can also asses myself by using MYP rubrics as a reference before submit the work, that is really helpful for me.
Persuasive Writing-Anderson Chen
Natural resources depletion by Anderson Chen
I believe everyone has a strong demand for natural resources. Natural resources are really important for humans, animals, like plant, for plants, clean soil and freshwater are the most important resources to it. As present-day technology, we still have strong demands for every natural resources. Today i will be talking about natural resources depletion, i want you guys to know one vocabulary before we get into the topic, that’s ‘depletion’. What is a depletion? When a source is being used faster than it can replenished.(http://www.theworldcounts.com/stories/consequences_of_depletion_of_natural_resources). So basically, i have two main issue to talk about, which is coal depletion which is depleting, and trees depletion, which is depleting permanently.
One of the biggest issues is coal depletion, what is caol? And how is it formed? Over million of years, dead animals and plants are covered by layers of soil and form coal.(Richard,E & Simkins,J (2013) Natural Resources Malaysia:Wayland)
It’s widely used for burning in homes, and burned for electricity.(Richard,E & Simkins,J(2013) Natural Resources Malaysia:Wayland) so it has been a depleted.
Scientist discovered that there are 3 trillion tinned of coal left in US, unfortunately, only 235 billion tonnes of coal can be mind by present day technology, even there are still many coal left , but it’s depleting fastly. There are some main countries are causing this, which imports and produces the most, there’s China and US, which produces the most, China produces 3117 million tonnes each year, US produces 1147 million tonnes each year, Taiwan, Japan, and india, which imports the most, Taiwan imports 66 million tonnes from foreign country each year, India imports 106 million tonnes each year, and Japan around 80 million tonnes each year(Richard,E & Simkins,J (2013) Natural Resources Malaysia:Wayland). These countries are only main countries whose causes this, other countries also produce and import.
There are 864 billion tonnes of coal lest in the world, people used 37 billion tonnes each year, that means there are only 23 years worth of coal left,(http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/3/21/1076665/-23 years worth of coal left)however, following the improvement of technology, people demands of coal gradually become lower.
Trees and Lumber depletion are another big Environmental issue. Lumber is widely used in building, pencil, paper, tissues.etc. Once the trees are extinct, we will die soon, trees can do photosynthesis, they can turn Co2 into Oxygen, for reduce air pollution, so it’s a really important resource for remaining our lives.
My research result shows there are 15 billion trees are chopped down every year, meaning there are 55600 per minute! there are 46% of trees has fallen since the advent of human civilization
(http://www/ran/org/how_many_trees_are_cut_down_every_year)
Now, the americans are trying to stop this situation, they planted at least 1.6 billion trees each year, that’s about 6 trees are planted per person approximately (http://www.washingtorpost.com/news/energy-enviroment/wp/2015/09/…)
For replenish it, we still have to plant more, if everyone plants 3 each year, after few years, world’s trees population will more than we used.
Natural resources is a big and seriously issue, it’s getting worse than worse following the years, we need to save this problem, because it affect us either, we should protect and take care of where we live, not keep harming it,now, do something, you don’t have to plant a tree or do recycling.etc, you can reduce your leftovers, close the door while the AC is on.etc even it is big work or just a little work, it’s all helpful, there are 7.4 billion people live in this beautiful planet we have to used more, but we can also do more!

How Did The Idea Of Monotheism Change Roman Empire?
ROMAN REPUBLIC
we came to the end of the first unit,in this unit, I learned a lot,we were talking about the ancient time of Rome and Greek,we were focused and learned a lot of things on ancient Greek, like sports ,cultures,…etc we also learned about alexander, who conquered Asia minor..etc , then we were talking about the Rome republic,we studied how it grew from a city to a large empire.
things I have to improve on:
I’m comin better than before I was,I’m had improved on text, presentation, images.and I can get a higher score than before, but I still need to improve a lot, I have to improve on communicating, explain things clearly..etc.
and i learned how to reflect on my work!!(that is important) 🙂
