It’s 12:10 am already, you are still chatting with your best friend. You tell him that you are about to sleep, meanwhile, you are setting 5 alarms on your phone from 6 am to 6:30 am, just in case you won’t be late for school again, Goodnight…

Finally, you are ready to sleep…Oh, Wait! You haven’t done your homework yet!
You just rushed through all your assignments, Now you are going to sleep no matter what happens…Goodnight. (Beep Beep Beep)
“It’s 6 already!?” “No, No, No, I’m going to rest my eyes for 5 minutes more, yeah…5 Minutes…” (Beep Beep Beep) “Oh my god, stop!” Now you have turned off all of your alarms, and try to take a “5-Minute” Rest…… Then You have a dream, a bad dream, that wakes you up, when you wake up, it’s already 7:30.
what does it mean to sleep early?
Does that situation describe YOU? if so, why? Why do we not want to sleep?
Have you ever thought of SLEEPING EARLY will not allow you to catch up all the homework assignments? Or maybe you feel less “productive” if you sleep early? Or, you need time to check your friend’s updated social media status? This is what most teenagers are worried about during their high school career. So you are not an exception! Everyone does, sometimes sleeping early makes us feel like we are “Wasting Time”, so we decide to do more things to “fulfill” our life. But that leads us to “Not Enough Sleep”.

According to a research conducted by The Conversation. it shows the majority of the teenagers between the age of 16 to 19 sleep with an average bedtime at 11:37 pm. It means that if the student has to wake up at around 6:30 to 7:00 am, then he/she only gets roughly 7 hours of sleep which is definitely not enough for a student to stay fully productive all day long.
We don’t take enough sleep because we misunderstood WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO SLEEP EARLY. The MAIN reason is not a huge load of homework, nor social media distraction. Rather, it is our concept to “Sleeping Early”. It’s completely wrong!
Is this you? When your mom forces you to sleep but then you see it as a punishment, we always think sleeping early is a reflection of laziness, it will waste a lot of time to study or socialize. However, sleeping early actually enhance grades, increase productivity and improve memory. You might be asking: “What about friends?” Of course, you will have enough time to socialize, I would say more than ever! Well, when you are being productive, you will have less stress, and you will find easier to socialize. So, we should all place sleeping as a priority!
“Waking up” will disappear from the list of “toughest job on earth” since you start sleeping earlier.
waking up, toughest job on earth
The clock is ticking, you have been wakened up by your mom, your eyes are still sticky, your dad is in the bathroom, your sister is brushing her teeth and trying to find her missing cloth at the same time, you are trying to catch up the Math homework from last night.
The clock is ticking but at a slow pace, you have been wakened up by a few singing sparrows, you open the fridge, and sees there’s still enough milk for cereal, so you decide to turn on some music and finish your cereal slowly, meanwhile, you contact your friends that you will be going to the Christmas event and finished the Math homework that you forgot to do.
Oh! By the way, Also, you watched a few episodes TV talk shows. What a fulfilled morning!
This is the two kinds of “waking ups”. Which one do you prefer? – Then Choose Your Bedtime Wisely.
Goodnight, I’m going to sleep, too. I hope I will have enough time for a cereal tomorrow.
