Why has the Philippine eagle become so endangered?
Philippine eagle is considered to be the strongest and the most threatening animal in the forest, but why has the Philippine eagle becoming so endangered? Apparently there are some main issues that keep causing the Philippine eagle becoming lesser and lesser, which is reproduction problem, habitat destruction and environmental issue.
A philippine eagle can lives up to over 40 years in captivity ,they can live up longer in the wild, it takes 5-7 years to sexually mature, once a couple are paired, they will remain together for rest of their life, but if one dies, another one will search for another eagle for replacing the dead one.
A female philippine eagle lays only one egg every two years, which can’t increase the population.
Philippine eagles inhabit forests and montane forests, montane forest is a mountain that covered by plants, such as bushes, trees, ferns etc.
But obviously, these two kind of habitats are really hard to survive for animals in present day, because people deforested many forests for agriculture purpose, etc. Philippine eagle are forced to move or to adapt this situation.
The way that philippine eagle is becoming endangered also due to pollutants and expanding agriculture which caused by humans, factories and cars released too much Co2, but not enough trees can absorb it, so the particles go into animals bodies by breathing, it’s bad for their health and they can no longer live up as long as before when there was no air pollution, agriculture expansion is another problem, humans deforested too many places for agriculture purpose, the land becomes used for growing crops. Humans also have been using too much pesticide on their crops, it harms the herbivores also affects the predators, Philippine eagles a lot.
The way that the second largest eagle in the world are becoming endangered is due to habitat destruction, which is caused by human, environmental issues, and reproduction problem, since the philippine eagle foundation started saving this endangered species, the number of philippine eagle has started balancing a little bit, the only way to make it start increase is to make sure all philippine eagle’s health and reproduce successfully, so we need to protect and restore the forest for making a suitable environment for the philippine eagles.
