In the previous month/CAS experience, I’ve sharpened my hockey wrist shot accuracy by practicing more often. This next CAS experience I would like to do is a little bit scary. I used to do it but haven’t done it in a long time. And going through all kinds of physical changes, it feels like I need to relearn this skill. So this next experience, I want to challenge myself to learn how to do a front flip off flat ground.
I began by getting myself comfortable with being upside down and flipping. So I learned how to jump and lift my body so that my legs would be higher off and my chest would be going towards the surface. Then I get myself comfortable with flipping by rolling on the bed without making contact with my neck. Rolling off my back, but not the shoulders or my neck as this will prevent injuries. I then moved on to jumping over a pillow then landing onto the mattress while completing a flip, just not landing back on the legs.
So far, I think my progress is going good. I’ve accomplished most of the basics and once I mastered these tiny skills, I can then commit to doing the actual flip without injuring myself.
Wow, that sounds very exciting! I like how you included the details of your learning process in the post. It helps me visualize the scene and better understand how to do a flip. I hope you’ve mastered the skill by now. Maybe some videos to demonstrate your learning would be nice 🙂
