Dragons fall to Wenzao University in exciting match

By Jonathon Hu

The boys volleyball team were defeated in their third game of the season (Oct 5th) after facing off against the dominant Wenzao University. This was their second game this season in which they’ve faced off against university opponents, both of which have ended up as losses. Despite this, the boy’s team still put up a tough fight against a tough match-up, in an exciting game full of spikes and blocks.

During the first set, the Dragons fell behind and were unable to catch up to the opposition, resulting in a final score of 19-25.  In the second set, the boys came back with a strong defensive effort. Unfortunately this would not be enough as the Dragons would fall two points short, ending the set with 23-25. Ending the game with a well deserved victory for Wenzao University. Highlights from the game are first from the first set.  Where the blockers made two consecutive blocks, securing a point for the dragons. And second from the second set, where the blockers made another phenomenal block. Sending the ball flying towards the rights corner of the court and adding a point for the dragons. One of the lead spikers Antony, talked to me on the improvements that could me made and lessons that could be learned during this game. “We need to improve on covering for each other, when a teammate is spiking, others need to fill in his place so that they can save the ball incase it gets blocked.” Antony and his teammates will work on improving their game and preparing for the next.

Overall, the Dragon’s put up an exciting game for the crowd. And the they look forward to play their next anticipating game against another university team, the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology.
